In the 1920s, a geneticist named J. C. McDaniel designed the first commercial broiler chicken breed, known as the "Cornish Cross." This breed was a hybrid model of Cornish and White Plymouth Rock chickens and was specially produced for meat production. The Cornish Cross breed showed good results in feed conversion rate, making it ideal for commercial meat production.
